How to Take Pictures of Your Eye
It is suggested that you use the forward camera on your phone, not the selfie camera side, for higher quality. (however, you might want to try your selfie side camera to see which image works best on your smartphone)
- Set your Zoom to @ least 2xs (or even Macro setting if your cameras software allows)
- Your images need to be as large as possible to capture a clear, distortion free view of your eyes.
- Light sources that are not diffused properly will hide the essential elements that need to be seen clearly. You want to keep the colored part of your eye free from any harsh lighting. In other words, please make sure there isn’t a glare on your eye from a window etc.
- Proper lighting with clarity is absolutely required if you’re not using a flash setting. Consider using a flashlight to shine on the side of your eye to pull out the detail he’ll need to see
- It is best to have someone else take your picture(s) as it requires that your phone camera be within a ‘couple of inches’ of your eye.
- If you have one available use a tripod to steady your smartphone.
- Test with your flash setting on and off…
- Just make sure that when using flash, the final image has the flash part inside your pupil and not the colored part of the eye. Don’t worry about getting super close for the picture as long as it’s clear we can zoom in on our end.
- Review the picture, does it look clear? S
